Bereavement
is a very difficult time and doubly so when all the
deceased’s affairs have to be put in order. Distribution
of the estate (all the assets including house, bank
accounts, insurance policies etc) cannot take place
until a will is “Proved” in the Family Court
of the High Court – usually a district probate
registry – and Probate of the Will has been obtained.
This is issued to the Executors and gives effective
title to cash in all assets and to pay bills and the
legacies to beneficiaries.
An unregulated company has recently
been the subject of much media attention after going
out of business owing clients millions. Solicitors are
regulated and insured as well as having done this kind
of work for centuries. Every clerk cut their teeth on
such work – and we have always liked it. We can
help guide clients through the myriad of rules and regulations
at a very upsetting time. |
